A Smile on the Façade of Notre-Dame 2025-2026
Here, a golden retriever puppy notices
that one decorative element of the façade
contains an empty space
perfectly suited to the smile of Mickey Mouse.
He immediately brings this fantasy to life
on his canvas —
as a discovery meant for attentive eyes.
Some laugh.
Some take offense and suddenly notice
above the retriever’s head
a subtle hint of mischievous little horns.
But Nice merely shrugs and replies:
“If even a cathedral can smile,
it means that art in architecture
can be not only great,
but also friendly.”
Sixth painting from the “Golden Retriever” series.
24 × 30 cm, 2026.
